This is about the duality/unity of the human experience. In certain conditions the green “pestle” (male principle, obviously) appears to stand off the background as “prime cause”. In others the “vessel” (female principle) advances and contains the pestle. So into this we can read the male/female dynamic, the inter-relationship, inter-dependence, totality, unity, wholeness and healing power of balance. The intensity and subtlety of the green and pink art glass and the way they respond to light when mounted on a solid panel is spectacular. Light enters each tessera, bounces around some and then is reflected back to the viewer. The pink especially iridesces – you just cannot do this with paint.
